List of alfa-romeo car range with Natural Gas GNC for sale in the US

The origins of Alfa Romeo can be traced back to the Società Italiana Automobili Darracq, founded in 1906 and located at 95, Strada del Portello, Milan, Italy. When economic difficulties hit in 1909, the company's shares were acquired by the organization's managing director, the Italian aristocrat Ugo Stella. On June 24, 1910, Stella relaunched and renamed her plant Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili - A.L.F.A. or "Alpha".

Alfa's young technical director, Giuseppe Merosi, was an ambitious young man who started selling bicycles. Soon after, Merosi was designing cars and motorcycles for Fiat and Bianchi. At Alfa, Merosi designed the first vehicle to leave the new production line at Portello in Milan, Italy. The 24HP featured a single block engine of 4.1 liters, a single transmission shaft and reached a top speed of 62 mph.

Alfa Romeo resumed production at the end of the First World War. They started by assembling pieces that were still in stock, and soon after they started designing new models. The Grand Prix, which had been sold during the war, was reacquired. He proceeded to attract attention in a series of important Italian races in the early 1920s, such as the Mugello circuit, the Parma-Berceto circuit and Brescia. A bright new era had begun.

When Finmeccanica sold Alfa Romeo to the Fiat group, its Design Center was moved to an industrial complex in Arese, near Milan, Italy. Managed by Walter de Silva, the center was destined to handle important projects like the 145, the Proteo and Nuvola prototypes, the 156, the 147 and the MiTo.

The range of cars with CNG Compressed Natural Gas that offers the alfa-romeo brand in United States is extended with the possibility of adapting retrofit:

How does a car with compressed natural gas / CNG work?

A CNG compressed natural gas car usually maintains the same gasoline system as the traditional version incorporating CNG compressed natural gas equipment.

1.- Safety valve Activated when the internal pressure of the CNG reaches 300 bar allowing a pressure relief of the unit
2.- Storage Tank Compressed Natural Gas is used at 200 bar pressure in cars
3.- Electronic Control Unit Controls the injection of fuel into the engine based on the parameters previously installed in the memory of the control unit
4.- Sequential Injectors Normally they are injectors dedicated to natural gas and they are in charge of introducing the compressed natural gas in the chamber of combustion of the engine
    5.- Low Pressure Pipeline
6.- Pressure Regulator Until it reaches the CNG by high pressure pipes (200 -10 bar), it is reduced pressure and exits in low pressure pipes (2-3 bar). To maintain the gas conditions and avoid a sudden change in temperature Reducer due to pressure reduction, the reducer is connected to the vehicle's cooling system. It has a safety valve that prevents the low pressure from increasing above 2.25 times the maximum operating pressure.
    7.- Pressure Sensor
    8.- Lambda probe
    9.- High Pressure Pipe
10.- Charge Valve It is the quick connector for charging the system and is directly connected to the reservoir / s

How much does compressed natural gas / CNG cost?

Compressed Natural Gas / CNG is invoiced in KG, contrary to the liters of traditional fuel

    Where can I refuel CNG?

The network of service stations with compressed natural gas / CNG is being developed although it is scarce in the UK at present

Ayudas y Subvenciones (Movalt, Comunidades Autónomas, Ayuntamientos...)

El Gobierno de España, a través del Plan Movalt incentiva la adquisición de vehículos con gas natural comprimido gnc, así mismo existen muchas ventajas a nivel local como reducciones de Impuesto de Matriculaciones, IVTM,...

Maintenance savings due to cleaner fuel

Being a cleaner system, catalytic converters, filters, "adblues" are eliminated, which reduces the possibility of mechanical breakdowns. Thus, for example, the service life of the oil increases with what it means for motor care

No Restrictions in Cities or on days of prohibition

The first cities begin to limit the access of diesel vehicles, in their restrictive regulations vehicles with CNG have access advantages

  • 10/17/2018 Alfa Romeo Giulietta with the CNG kit from BRC

BRC has introduced a dedicated CNG conversion kit for the 1.4i 16V Turbo engine used in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The car has a start / stop system, with which the methane injection system is compatible.

The dedicated kit is based on BRC's versatile Sequent Plug & Drive MY10 injection system and features many of the components seen in the same LPG version of the product, such as the ECU, BRC IN03 MY09 feed injectors lower, the low pressure sensor in the rail injector, the low pressure fuel filter and the fuel type switch. The CNG kit includes a different pressure reducer and an additional sensor to measure the CNG pressure in the tanks. The signal from this sensor is used to show the remaining CNG pressure. The Zenith CNG reducer is a 2-stage device, which provides an output fuel pressure between 1600 and 2500 mbar. The kit includes custom adjustment brackets and the ECU presents pre-installed CNG injection time strategies. Thanks to this, the conversion process is fast and simple and the result is pleasing to the eye. The Sequent Plug & Drive MY10 CNG for the turbo 1.4i 16V 88 kW (120 PS) engine at the start / stop Alfa Romeo Giulietta is now available through BRC sales
