Japan has been actively promoting the use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and as a result, the number of hydrogen stations in the country has been steadily increasing.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), as of September 2021 there were approximately 160 operational hydrogen stations in Japan, with more stations under construction or in the planning phase. Most of the stations are located in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Aichi, Osaka and Fukuoka prefectures.
Hydrogen fuel prices in Japan vary based on location and supplier. It should be noted that the Japanese government has been promoting the use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and has launched various initiatives to support the growth of the hydrogen industry. As a result, the cost of hydrogen fuel has been decreasing.
