Hydrogen Stations in Belgium in
In Belgium, about 20 hydrogen vehicles have been officially registered per year for a decade, although this number continues to rise and almost all of these vehicles are purchased by companies. As an example, only the Colruyt Group has a fleet of more than 21 H2 vehicles. And there is no more because currently the network of public stations where you can refuel hydrogen is very limited. DATS 24, the Colruyt Group service station operator, plans to open new stations with H2 dispensers in the coming years.
At these hydrogen stations, the tank fills in five minutes. As for the price, it is currently very similar to that of a full tank of gasoline. A kilo of hydrogen costs 10 in DATS 24 and the tanks have a capacity of about six kilos. Therefore, a tank full of H2 costs about 60 for a range of about 600 km.
From 2025 to 2030, the Belgian Government intends for the network of hydrogen stations in Belgium to increase significantly by installing refueling points that offer renewable hydrogen to drivers, taking a big step towards the decarbonization of the country. There is therefore still a long way to go, but it seems that hydrogen has a bright future, also in transport in Belgium.
In December 2023 there were 7 hydrogen refueling points in Belgium open to the public. There are more projects to open hydrogen stations in Belgium that will be implemented throughout 2024 and 2025.

McPhy has just signed an important contract with Eiffage Energie Système to equip the hydrogen production and distribution station located in Danjoutin, operated by Hynamics, according to the Drôme manufacturer. The station will supply future Optymo hydrogen buses.
McPhy, a specialist in carbon-neutral hydrogen production and distribution equipment, has announced the signing of a contract with Eiffage Energies Système to equip the Danjoutin hydrogen station, operated by Hynamics (hydrogen subsidiary of the EDF group). With this contract, McPhy will deliver a 1 MW electrolyzer, capable of distributing up to 800 kg of hydrogen per day. This will allow the station, in two terminals, to refuel seven buses designed by Belgian Van Hool (see our article) in one hour for the Optymo urban network.
