There are only a few hydrogen filling stations in Russia. According to the International Energy Agency's (IEA) Hydrogen Deployment Tracker, there were only two operational hydrogen refueling stations in Russia at the time. One is in Moscow and the other in Saint Petersburg.
However, the Russian government has expressed its commitment to developing the country's hydrogen infrastructure. In December 2020, the Russian Ministry of Energy signed a cooperation agreement with the IEA on the development of hydrogen energy in Russia. The agreement aims to promote the use of hydrogen as a clean energy source, develop a regulatory framework for the production and transportation of hydrogen, and encourage investment in the sector.
In addition, several companies have announced plans to build hydrogen filling stations in Russia. For example, in 2020, the French energy company Total announced its intention to build a network of 50 hydrogen filling stations in Russia by 2025. For its part, the Russian oil company Gazprom Neft has also announced plans to build hydrogen filling stations. in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
